Store History:
Gamers Guild has been a mainstay of the Fayetteville/Fort Bragg/Spring Lake area for the better part of 20 years. The business was started by Joe Rhodes in the early 90's and initially specialized in Sports Cards and Memorabilia as Card Avenue. With the creation of Magic, Mr. Rhodes jumped into the gaming side of the card business. Card Avenue was one of the first stores in North Carolina to host sanctioned Magic events and hosted great events such as Junior Super Series. Following the rise or Magic and the boom of Pokemon, Mr. Rhodes expanded into miniature's gaming, computer gaming, video games, and computer repair. Following this expansion card Avenue became NC Game Zone and then Gamers Guild. In late 2001, Joe hired Garrett Steedly to manage the gaming aspect of the business. Garrett had been a long time customer and was a decorated gamer and organizer in Magic, Pokemon, Raw Deal, and Mage Knight. In late 2006, Mr. Rhodes decided to leave the business to pursue other interests. Garrett decided to carry on the business and refocus it strictly on its old-school gaming roots. Once again high-level competitive tournament play would be the focus of events at the store while maintaining a fun an new player friendly attitude. Since then Gamers Guild has hosted some of the largest hobby store based events in the state for Magic, Yugioh, WOW, and more. Today Gamers Guild continues to strive to provide a great gaming environment, fun and competitive play, a large and fairly priced selection of product, and a wide variety of events to choose from. Thanks to all of the great customers in the region, Gamers Guild will continue to provide the best gaming possible for years to come.
